Mothers Day: Honoring a Fallen Son

It just so happens that as we celebrate the success of the US Navy SEALs killing bin Laden this week, another SEAL is honored.  Lieutenant Michael Murphy was killed in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings, a mission that ended with 19 Americans dead.   Murphy, who kept his composure while wounded under enemy fire, managed to call in support for help.  By doing so he had to completely expose himself to enemy fire in which he was shot again, then returned to his position after successfully making the call.  He succumb to his injuries and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery.  The USS Michael Murphy was launched in honor of what would be his 35th birthday.  His mother was able to christen the ship for launch, a true gift to a loving mother.
